Semiconductor accelerometer having reduced sensor plate flexure
United States Patent and Trademark Office
Sep 1998
A semiconductor accelerometer features a sensor plate that remains substantially planar under acceleration. Support beams attach to the sensor plate at constraint points, with a portion of the sensor mass cantilevered outward. This cantilevered mass creates a counterbalancing moment that maintains the sensor plate in a stable, planar state during the application of acceleration forces.

Rapid Solidification Processing of a Mg-Li-Si-Ag Alloy
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions
May 1996
A Mg-13Li-4Si-lAg (wt pct) alloy with improved ductility and thermal stability was developed via the rapid solidification (RS) processing technique. Silicon was added to the alloy as the third alloying element in order to form a thermally stable intermetallic dispersoid phase required for improved mechanical properties at ambient and elevated temperatures.
Polycrystalline Grain Structure of Sputtered Aluminum Nitride Films
Materials Research Society
Apr 1994
Reactively-sputtered, polycrystalline thin film aluminum nitride (AlN) is an attractive material for use in acoustic wave devices, for which it requires a strong preferred orientation, similar to that found in epitaxial films. This investigation evaluated the grain structure including preferred orientation, grain size, and surface morphology of sputtered AlN films.
